PokerRoom is the largest poker room on the popular OnGame poker network. Traffic is good up to mid stakes levels, however it is significantly lower now that they have banned US players.?During European late night hours the action is very scarce. They have been in business since 1999 with a fairly solid reputation making them one of the 'older' poker rooms online. They are licensed by the Kahnawake Gaming Commission with their servers located securely in Montreal, Canada. PokerRoom offers a variety of games including Limit and No-Limit Texas Hold'em, Omaha and Omaha Hi/Lo, 7 Card Stud and 7 Card Stud Hi/Lo, and 5 Card Stud. They offer a wide variety of tournaments that run at all times of the day. It is rare for any games other than No-Limit Texas Hold'em to have traffic above the lowest levels. Hold'em games are well populated up to around the $2/4 No-Limit (NL) and $5/10 Limit (FL) games. Traffic is highest during the European afternoon.

At the lower limits the play is extremely poor and can be very profitable (and high variance). At mid-stakes and up you run into many seasoned veterans playing for the frequent bonuses that PokerRoom offers. These games can be very tough to beat as many players are very tight and aggressive.

PokerRoom's software has a good lobby that makes it easy to find your game of choice. Your balance and latency is always displayed at the bottom of the lobby screen. The tables are well laid out and allow you to easily see which players are in the hand, how much money they have, how much they have bet, and where the button is.

The software has a useful if not annoying feature where?when you join a table and you must click "sit in" to start playing. Hands play out fairly quickly other than when two players are all in. In that situation both hands are shown and the odds of each hand winning are displayed. This feature is useful for new players trying to learn the odds, but will be annoying to more seasoned players. Action keys (fold, call, raise) are all hot linked to the function keys on your keyboard so you can rest your mouse hand if needed.

Statistics on your play are available including break downs for each session that you have played. Hand histories are available as well. In addition, you can look up hand histories on their website. PokerRoom ring games are supported by PokerTracker, although tournaments are not.

The PokerRoom software is automatically linked to the CasinoRoom games so that you can play a variety of casino games through your poker software. This may be of use to some, and of great detriment to people likely to go on "blackjack tilt". PokerRoom also offers one of the first "no-download" poker rooms, which offers the client through a java browser application. This makes this one of the few poker rooms that mac users can play on.

PokerRoom went through a bad spell where customer service was somewhat lacking and many customers had problems with cashouts and play point accumulation. Recently having come under new management, PokerRoom has now been very responsive to customer inquiries and the cashier department has had far fewer problems.

They have a very vocal poker room manager who is very proactive in supporting players and getting new offers and promotions. The site is not as popular as it once was, but it still receives a good amount of traffic with pretty soft competition
