Hollywood Poker is one of the largest poker rooms on the popular OnGame poker network. The traffic is significantly lower, now that they have banned US players; however, it is still good up to mid stakes levels. During European late night hours the action is very scarce. They are a medium sized site with about 25k total players at peak times. They have employed a unique marketing strategy, one of which the name gives you a hint.  They have over 200 Hollywood ‘celebrities’.  Among the most notable is James Woods.  He plays at their site, so you never know who you might end up sitting next too. The celebrities are marked with a star next to their avatar when playing at the tables. This is also the home of live poker commentator Vince Van Patten, the voice of the WPT. Hollywood Poker offers a variety of games including Limit and No-Limit Texas Hold'em, Omaha and Omaha Hi/Lo, 7 Card Stud and 7 Card Stud Hi/Lo, and 5 Card Stud. They offer a wide variety of tournaments that run at all times of the day. It is primarily a No-Limit Texas Hold'em site and the games are a bit softer that average. They seem to do a good job marketing to newer poker players, maybe it’s the celebrity factor. The vast majority of the traffic is centered around the lower limits. The Hold'em games are well populated up to around the $2/$4 No-Limit (NL) and $5/10 Limit (FL) games. Traffic is highest during the European afternoon. 

At the lower limits the play is extremely poor and can be very profitable (and high variance). At mid-stakes and up you run into many seasoned veterans playing for the frequent bonuses that Hollywood Poker offers. These games can be very tough to beat as many players are very tight and aggressive.

The Limit Hold’em action is about average both in softness and game availability. As for Omaha the availability is average for a site this size at all limits however the Pot Limit games are very soft. So if you can sit down and wait or keep checking in for action it is well worth it.

Hollywood Poker's software has a good lobby that makes it easy to find your game of choice. Your balance and latency is always displayed at the bottom of the lobby screen. The tables are well laid out and allow you to easily see which players are in the hand, how much money they have, how much they have bet, and where the button is.

The software has an unusual feature where when you join a table and you must click "sit in" to start playing. The extra click is a bit unnecessary. Hands play out fairly quickly other than when two players are all in. In that situation both hands are shown and the odds of each hand winning are displayed. This feature is useful for new players trying to learn the odds, but will be annoying to more seasoned players. Action keys (fold, call, raise) are all hot linked to the function keys on your keyboard so you can rest your mouse hand if needed.

Statistics on your play are available including break downs for each session that you have played. Hand histories are available as well. In addition, you can look up hand histories on their website. Hollywood Poker ring games are supported by PokerTracker, although tournaments are not.

The Hollywood Poker software is automatically linked to the CasinoRoom games so that you can play a variety of casino games through your poker software. This may be of use to some, and of great detriment to people likely to go on "blackjack tilt". Hollywood Poker also offers one of the first "no-download" poker rooms, which offers the client through a java browser application. This makes this one of the few poker rooms that mac users can play on.
