Aztec Riches Poker Review
Aztec Riches Poker is part of the Microgaming Poker Network (formerly known as Prima Poker), and their site design is inspired by the ancient cultures of Central America. The poker room is connected to the Microgaming Poker Network, which also offers an online casino - very convenient for players who like to play both poker and other forms of online gambling. They have about 20,000 players connected at peak times - making it a medium to large poker room - and if you are familiar with Poker Share or now Doyle's Room, you will be right at home here, as they share both the software and player base with all other sites on the network.
Aztec Riches Poker Game Types:
Aztec Riches Poker offers No-Limit, Pot-Limit, and Fixed-Limit Texas Hold’em, Pot-Limit and Fixed-Limit Omaha (both high and high/low variations), 7 Card Stud, and 5 Card Stud. Stakes range from nickel games all the way up to $100/$200 for both Fixed and No-Limit games. Most of the Fixed-Limit Hold’em action is at the $0.50/$1 through $2/$4 tables, whereas No-Limit players primarily stick to $1/$2 and lower. There is almost no action at the Fixed-Limit Omaha tables – if you want to play Omaha at Aztec Riches Poker, you will have to play Pot-Limit. Aztec Riches Poker also has plenty of tournaments to choose from. Many Sit-and-Go options are available: from standard 10-person contests to short-handed, heads-up, and multi-table games. Additionally, Aztec Riches Poker has “Rounders” tables, which are special Sit-and-Go’s that give players the chance to win big money for a small buy-in. The Rounders tournaments consist of five levels, with the top finishers in one level advancing to the next. Some players will be able to replay a level, depending on where they finish, while the rest will have to start over. Players can also buy directly into any of the levels. Level one is only a $5 + $0.50 buy-in, but if you make it to level five (a $550 + $55 buy-in) you can win up to $3,000. Multi-Table tournaments are also abundant at Aztec Riches Poker, with guaranteed prize pools, re-buys, freezeouts, and freerolls among the options to choose from. The structure at Aztec Riches Poker is good: players start with 1,500 chips and blinds only go up every twelve minutes, so there is plenty of time to play. Like most online poker rooms, Aztec Riches Poker holds tournaments in which players can win seats to prestigious live poker events. Satellites (in the form of both Sit-and-Go’s and Multi-Table tournaments) are running around the clock. Aztec Riches Poker stands out from the other rooms with its World Series of Poker (WSOP) satellites: in 2006, in addition to awarding seats at the main event, they also gave players the choice to compete for seats into other events such as Stud and Omaha. Also in 2006 Aztec Riches Poker awarded one astounding prize to a skilled player – an entry into every single WSOP event plus 60 days of accommodation, travel expenses and $3,500 as spending money! Aztec Riches Poker offers a large initial deposit bonus of 50% up to $200, but it is very, very hard to clear. They also have a loyalty program, where you earn points for real money play in both cash games and tourneys which you can exchange for cash.
Aztec Riches Poker Software and Features:
Anyone who has played at any of the Prima Poker rooms will be immediately familiar with the Aztec Riches Poker software. The lobby is easy to navigate, with a tree on the left side to select the game type and menus for limit and stakes. Table listings show average pot size, percent of players to the flop, hands per hour, and waiting list size. The waitlist feature is easy to use, but it can be a bit of a task to remove yourself from multiple waiting lists, sine it can only be done manually. Aztec Riches Poker takes the minimalist approach to table graphics: no avatars, no pictures to upload, no drinks, nothing. They offer an easy to read standard deck as well as a four-color deck. If fancy colors and graphics greatly enhance your poker playing experience, Aztec Riches Poker may disappoint you, but if you just want smooth-running tables we recommend you give it a whirl. Perhaps the best feature of the Aztec Riches Poker software is the mini-table view: mini view shrinks the table down to a small rectangle, with only the basic information and graphics displayed. This feature is fantastic for those who want to play more than one table at a time, as four tables will easily fit on most standard monitors. Statistics and note-taking are available at the tables. Hand histories can also be requested and stored on your hard drive. While Aztec Riches Poker has a player search function, it does not have a buddy list feature. One downside to the Aztec Riches Poker software is that it can be rather resource-intensive when several tables are open. It’s not as bad as some other rooms, but it could be better.
Aztec Riches Poker Behind the Scenes at:
Aztec Riches Poker offers customer service via e-mail, a toll free telephone number, and live online chat. Customer service representatives are generally helpful and friendly over live chat, but there have been some quality issues with e-mail responses (although response time is usually fast). Like all Microgaming rooms, Aztec Riches Poker’s software is secure and no customer information is ever available outside of Aztec Riches Poker’s internal network. Microgaming and Aztec Riches Poker have developed algorithms to help detect collusion at the tables and Aztec Riches Poker also employs agents who proactively seek out cheaters.
