Zachary Hyman Surprises All to Win Wynn Poker Classic

If you threw a dartboard at a list of the players at the final table of the Wynn Poker Classic, odds are that you would hit a WPT champion or WSOP bracelet winner. Chau Giang, Johnny Chan, Scott Fischman, Michael Mizrachi, Ted Lawson, and Mike Matusow were all there. Had to feel a bit sorry for the other three guys. Too bad one of those “other three” won the thing.

Zachary Hyman entered the final table staring up at six players, with only one of the big time pros behind him in chips. But just like that, the favorites started dropping. First Giang and Chan, then Mizrachi, Fischman, and Matusow. Three of the final four players will all “no-names,” with the tournament eventually coming down to Lawson and Hyman in a heads-up match.

Hyman ended up besting the 2004 WSOP Pot Limit Omaha bracelet holder, earning himself a $729,033 payday.
