WSOP “Poker Peek” Cards Revealed

As reported back in March, the United States Playing Card Company (USPC) was named the official playing card supplier to the World Series of Poker, which starts June 1.  As part of the arrangement, the USPC developed a new style of playing card, dubbed the “Poker Peek” style.

Described as the “most significant poker face style innovation in 40 years,” the Poker Peek project started two years ago in the attempt to merge two needs: a) pros felt that traditional face markings were large enough to potentially be seen by opponents, while smaller markings would be difficult to see when face-up in the middle of the table, and b) recreational players preferred larger face markings.

The solution was surprisingly simple.  First, the corner “pips,” which players view when secretly turning up the corners of the cards were reoriented in a diagonal fashion so that when the cards are curled up, the entire pip can be seen by the player with minimal effort.  As far as visibility on the table was concerned, the main center graphic is a bit smaller, but the card value marking (ex: the A, K, Q, J markings) has been moved down, closer to the center of the card on each side, as well as enlarged.

The Poker Peek cards are all made from high quality KEM stock.
