While nothing is official, rumors began swirling last night that online poker mainstay, PokerStars, may be adding 2005 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event Champion, Joseph Hachem, to its poker team.
According to the PokerStars official blog, Hachem was at a PokerStars party in New York recently, not only schmoozing with the poker room’s to players, but also posing for pictures with the previous two WSOP winners (and PokerStars representatives), Chris Moneymaker and Greg Raymer, wearing a PokerStars shirt. Also according to the blog, PokerStars and Hachem “have been getting very chummy recently.”
Moneymaker and Raymer are members of Team PokerStars because they won their seats to the WSOP’s that they won through qualifying tournaments online at the poker room. Hachem, on the other hand, paid his own way to the WSOP, but reportedly plays a lot at PokerStars when he is not playing live.
Other members of Team PokerStars include Evelyn Ng, Isabelle Mercier, Tom McEvoy, and actor/writer Wil Wheaton.
