In 2005, popular poker periodical, Bluff Magazine, introduced “Bubble Insurance” at the World Series of Poker (WSOP). This Bubble Insurance was a way to offer a sort of consolation prize to those who just missed the money in the Main Event.
This year, Bluff has partnered with MansionPoker.net to bring back Bubble Insurance for the WSOP, but this time, it is for any event. While the Insurance is free, all players (the first 500 signups are eligible) must wear the apparel provided by Bluff during every hand played at the WSOP. If Insurance holders are eliminated within five spots of the money, they will received a free buy-in to a Bluff-selected 2007 WSOP tournament, up to $2,500.
Additionally, the top six bubble finishers, as determined by Bluff, who hold Bubble Insurance, will be bought-in for free to the MansionPoker.net Poker Dome Challenge, which starts this June.
Just don’t tell those with Bubble Insurance that the bubble has now effectively shifted down five spots. Unless everyone gets paid, there will always be a bubble.
