WPT Looking for Season VII Home

World Poker Tour Enterprises, Inc. (WPTE), owner of the World Poker Tour, announced Monday that the Game Show Network has declined to pick up it option to broadcast the seventh season of the WPT.  Therefore, the WPT is without a home for next season.

The WPT has only been with GSN for one season after spending its first five on the Travel Channel.  New Season VI episodes are currently airing on GSN and will be through late August.  Seasons II through V are still in re-runs on the Travel Channel.

WPTE is in discussion with other networks about broadcasting the upcoming season.  GSN is not out of the question, according to the network’s CEO David Goldhill, who said, “The World Poker Tour has been a great partner and the show continues to perform strongly on our network. We are continuing discussions with WPTE regarding how we may be able to work together – including perhaps broadcasting parts of Season VII.”

Steve Lipscomb, WPT’s Founder and CEO, is looking at the bright side.

“This may allow us the first opportunity to explore diversifying content on multiple networks like most sports leagues,” he said.  “We have already begun those discussions and look forward to making another season of the best and most widely distributed poker programming in the world to our dedicated viewers and fans.”
