WPT Championship Day 2 – de Wolfe, Hellmuth Lead Field

The action continued at the Bellagio Monday as the $25,000 buy-in WPT Championship made its way through the second day of competition.  When the smoke cleared, the field still needed to be whittled down by more than half before anyone made a profit.

Roland de Wolfe and Phil Hellmuth were the big movers of the day, finding themselves in the numbers one and two spots on the leaderboard after the last hand was dealt shortly before 9:00pm Pacific.  Both are also the only two players with over half a million in chips.

Anna Wroblewski, the surprise chip leader at the end of Day 1, continued to amass chips, and while she is no longer looking down on the entire field, she is in great shape in twelfth place with 346,600 chips.

With only 100 players out of a starting number of 639 getting paid, it will be close call on whether or not the tournament will get down to the money Tuesday.

The winner will receive $3,970,415, second place will bag $2,011,135, and third will be rewarded with $1,082,920 in what is the richest World Poker Tour event of all time.
