Robert Daily, 2006 World Series of Poker Tournament Director, has resigned from his post at Harrah’s and has joined the board of DG Holdings, Ltd., as leader of the online gaming platform division. The move comes just two weeks before the start of the 2007 WSOP, which he was set to direct. DGH is a privately held, international investment group. Its gaming division, which was formed four years ago, plans to launch its first licensed poker site in June. Daily was with Harrah’s for eleven years, serving as the 2005 WSOP Event Manager before advancing to Tournament Director after the departure of Johnny Grooms. Curiously, Daily said that DGH approached him after he resigned. While we must take him at his word, it is hard to believe he just up and left on the eve of the largest poker festival of the year without good reason. “I have greatly enjoyed my years with Harrah's, and especially the World Series of Poker,” said Daily. “I have every confidence this year's WSOP will run smoothly and efficiently and if I did not feel strongly that the tournament was ready, I would not have left at this time.” Originally published 12:52 AM Sunday, May 20, 2007
