The first four members of the Women in Poker Hall of Fame will be inducted on February 2, 2008, in a private ceremony at Binion’s in Las Vegas.  Founded in May 2007 by the Ladies International Poker Series (LIPS), the Women in Poker Hall of Fame, in its own words, “…work[s] to enhance awareness and to celebrate, contributions and achievements of women in poker as recognized and respected representatives and proponents of women in poker.”

The inductees are:

Barbara Enright – she was the first woman to win a bracelet in an open World Series of Poker event, taking the 1996 pot-limit hold’em title.  She has also won two women’s WSOP championships.  In other firsts, she was the first woman to make the WSOP Main Event final table and the first woman to be inducted in the Poker Hall of Fame (in 2007).

Susie Isaacs – won consecutive ladies WSOP bracelets, in 1996 and 1997.

Linda Johnson – a true poker ambassador and luminary, Johnson is the World Poker Tour live announcer, as well as the organizer of Card Player cruises.  She was once publisher of Card Player magazine, as well.  Johnson currently serves on the board of directors of the Poker Players Alliance, having also been its chair.  She co-founded several poker organizations and events, including the Tournament Directors Association, the World Poker Players Conference, and the World Poker Industry Conference.

Marsha Waggoner – a prolific player, Waggoner has cashed at the WSOP eighteen times and has cashed in more than one hundred major tournaments overall.

Membership for the Hall of Fame costs $75 annually and includes an invitation to the 2008 induction ceremony, a seat at a freeroll the following day, and a commemorative gift.  Twenty percent of the membership fee goes to benefit Breast Cancer Angels.
