Copenhagen, Denmark -- Antanas Guoga, known in the poker world as Tony G was named the CEO of online poker room Poker Champs (www.pokerchamps.com) today, in a move that was welcomed by shareholders.
Poker Champs is the online home of Gus Hansen, and Gus personally helped develop, and plan the site. Gus had this to say about Tony’s appointment.
“We made a couple decisions yesterday at our General Assembly, and I feel a couple of decisions were made that are steps in the right direction, and will help the marketing side of Poker Champs, and I feel the future is very bright”
“At Poker Champs, we have a great tournament program, and a great affiliate program, and I feel we can really take steps toward making Poker Champs one of the truly great sites out there.” Hansen continued
Previously the Marketing Director for Poker Champs, Tony G welcomes his new challenge. “I am surprised, and honored to be given the mandate to lead Poker Champs into its next phase of development. I am ready for the exciting challenge that is ahead, and I look forward to creating results.” Said Guoga.
In the short period of time that Poker Champs has been in business, the emerging online room has experienced phenomenal growth, and now stands as one of the top rooms on the internet. “Our growth has held at an average of 23% a month since our launch last October. These numbers will be a real challenge to maintain, but all the indicators are positive at the moment.” continues Guoga
“I believe the software is our biggest edge. The software has been voted one of the top systems in the business, and I give all credit to our partners at Aglet, who developed the software, and continue to do fantastic work.” Notes Guoga “With the sudden and significant increase in traffic, the Aglet software has run flawlessly. We at Poker Champs owe Aglet a great debt, and I look forward to working with them more, and learning more from them as our partnership continues”
One of the few online rooms to be based in a European Union nation (Malta), Poker Champs prides itself on a safe play environment for the player, as well as a stable environment for their money. “We feel we have a license that is very strong, with our license in Malta.” Says Guoga “If a poker room is licensed in a less governed area, like Central America, or the Caribbean, players may be taking a big risk with their money. We want people to feel safe at Poker Champs, and we feel we have a huge edge over the competition in this regard.”
Poker Champs boasts top players like Hansen, Erik Sagstrom (an online poker legend, who is arguably the biggest online winner ever), and Tony G himself as shareholders. “With Gus, Erik, and myself constantly evaluating Poker Champs strengths, and working to improve its weaknesses, we have a room that is run with a player mindset. We feel that having a room where top players take an active role in management, not just wear a shirt with a logo on it, is a huge advantage to our player base”
About Poker Champs
Poker Champs is wholly owned and operated by Poker champs Ltd, which is a legal business located in Malta. They abide by the laws and regulations where they do business.
Malta is a small country south of Italy in the Mediterranean Sea. It is a fully-fledged member of the European Union and therefore bound by European and International treaties and agreements. Malta enforces very strict laws and regulations on gaming companies operating in the country. Directors are held personally responsible and liable for gaming operations and cannot just hide behind a shell company or some other entity.
Poker Champs main payment provider and bank connection is Deutsche Bank in Germany (PAGO) and Forstaedernes Bank in Denmark. Both banks are well established and reside in countries with some of the strictest regulations with regard to banking.
Poker Champs main offices are in Malta while the software development team is located in Denmark. The international customer and operations support is spread worldwide.
Although there are significant savings in establishing a gaming operation in other parts of the world, where little or no regulation exists, Poker Champs truly believe that it's worth complying with the additional regulations of the European Union and European Main banks so that they may offer a secure and safe environment for their players.
