Tom Schneider Wins WSOP Player of the Year

It actually came down to the final qualifying event, but in the end, Tom Schneider won the World Series of Poker Player of the Year award handily.  With two bracelets, a fourth place finish, and another cash at the 2007 WSOP, Schneider finished with 255 points in the POY standings, 30 ahead of Jeffrey Lisandro.

Lisandro did have a chance to catch Schneider in the final event, the 2-7 lowball tournament.  He needed to finish in at least fourth place and beat Schneider.  When Schneider busted out in 16th place, Lisandro was still alive, but he was eliminated two places later.

Two events did not count in the standings: the $50,000 H.O.R.S.E. event and the Main Event.  Had the Main Event counted, Alex Kravchenko would have had a shot at the POY award.  He won one bracelet, just missed the $5,000 H.O.R.S.E. final table, and cashed a few other times before placing 4th in the Main Event.
