Support for IGREA Grows in House

It’s slow climb, but Barney Frank is continuing to gain support for his Internet Gambling Regulation and Enforcement Act, the bill which would legalize and regulate internet gambling, including poker.  Last week, three more Congressmen signed on as co-sponsors of the bill, increasing the number of co-sponsors to forty-four.

The most seasoned of the trio is Robert Andrews (D-N.J.), who is in his tenth term in Congress.  Representative Andrews is chairman of the Subcommittee on Health, Employment, Labor and Pensions.

Adam Smith (D-Wash.), in his sixth term, is chairman of the Terrorism, Unconventional Threats and Capabilities subcommittee of the House Armed Services Committee, as well as a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee.

John Larson (D-Conn.), is a member of the House Ways and Means Committee and the subcommittees on Trade and Select Revenue Measures.  He is in his fifth term.  Both Smith and Larson had previously voted against online gambling.
