Richard “Quiet Lion” Brodie is back in action at Harrah’s. Brodie, a Full Tilt Poker pro and creator of Microsoft Word, had been banned from Harrah’s properties earlier this month. Thus, he was unable to play in the World Series of Poker, as the Rio is a Harrah’s casino. The reason for his exile was baffling. He got extremely lucky at video poker. Granted, he was lucky to the tune of three royal flushes and $720,000, but that was no reason to give him the boot. He wasn’t cheating and, by his admission, he wasn’t even playing perfect strategy. He just got very, very, very lucky. Of course, he spent thousands upon thousands of dollars to get lucky, but Harrah’s was happy to have those dollars. Last week, Brodie announced on his blog that Harrah’s had reversed its decision and lifted the ban. He did not know exactly why he was barred in the first place or why he was now allowed back, but he said it is looking like it was simply a big mistake. Despite his frustration, he was gracious, saying that the people at Harrah’s were “friendly and professional.” Brodie has yet to cash at the 2007 World Series of Poker.
