Seattle’s Quinn Do had a fantastic World Series of Poker and is looking to stay on a roll this summer, as the 2005 Bellagio Challenge Cup draws near its end. The Cup will conclude Thursday, with Do facing off with Amnon Filippi in the heads-up portion of the competition. Filippi has a $1,166,000 to $775,000 chip lead.
While Do is obviously doing just fine in this no-limit tournament, his success at the WSOP came in fixed-limit events. He placed 5th in the $1,500 Limit Hold’em Shootout event on June 16 and followed it up two days later by winning his first gold bracelet in another limit event, the $2,500 Limit Hold’em tournament.
The final table has been a game of patience for Do, who held steady most of the day until making a huge move late when he doubled up through Fuat Can. Can was eliminated in 3rd place shortly thereafter.
Play will resume at noon Pacific time on Thursday. The winner will receive $364,200, while the runner-up will pocket $228,850.
