The World Poker Tour (WPT) and Travel Channel’s latest offering, the Professional Poker Tour (PPT), has settled into a time slot. The show will premier on Wednesday, July 5, at 9:00pm EST and will air every Wednesday night thereafter, giving the Travel Channel forty-four consecutive weeks of poker, as the WPT season will end just before the PPT season begins.
The PPT is invitation only, with players earning their “tour cards” through past play. The many criteria that earn a player their card include winning a WPT event, making multiple WPT final tables in one season, winning the World Series of Poker’s (WSOP) Main Event, making the final six at the WSOP, placing in the top six at the WPT World Championship, making any one of several top 10 rankings, or by being a member of the Poker Hall of Fame.
All five events in the PPT are pure freerolls, each featuring a $500,000 prize pool, including $200,000 to the winner.
The tournaments will feature a 90-second time limit for decisions at the final table. Each player will also have a “time bank allowance” to allow them to think a bit longer, but will only be able to dip into the bank once.
The telecasts will be hosted by two-time WSOP bracelet winner, Mark Seif, and actor Matt Corboy.
