If there can ever be a bright side to a natural disaster, it is how people from around the world come together to help those affected. Many people in the poker community, through the generosity of PokerStars, are opening their hearts and their wallets to aid those in China who were victimized by the recent terrible earthquake. PokerStars is currently running six “events” to which customers can donate money in $1, $5, $10, $20, $50, and $100 increments. Found in the Tourney/Special tab in the Stars lobby, these “events” are not actually tournaments, but rather vehicles by which the poker room can collect donations. No games will actually be played. For every dollar contributed by its players, PokerStars will contribute an additional dollar before giving the whole lot to the Red Cross. Those who which to donate other amounts can simply initiate a funds transfer to the account “Quake Relief” using the city “PokerStars” in the cashier.
