PokerStars has been a dominant force in the online poker world for years and it just keeps getting stronger. Helped by the UIGEA, which drove players to sites which continued to accept U.S. players, PokerStars has risen to the top of the class, blowing past Party Poker, the former king of the hill. Last week, PokerStars’ leadership was demonstrated as it reached two major milestones for player traffic. The first milestone, as reported by PokerScout.com, was to become the first online poker room to have 20,000 players seated at real money cash games at one time. The record of 20,386 set on Thursday was later eclipsed by almost another 2,000 players. The second milestone was reached Sunday, as PokerStars became the first to host 150,000 players simultaneously. Granted, most were only at the play money tables, but the site’s draw is most definitely impressive. The $1,050 buy-in Sunday Million saw more than 1,800 players register, while the Sunday Hundred Grand drew 20,000.
