PokerStars Brings Back e-checks

Online poker giant, PokerStars, has brought back e-checks as a funds transfer method for U.S. players, but only to a limited number of customers at the present time.  The company stopped allowing U.S. customers to use this funding and withdrawal method on January 17, 2007 due to complications stemming from the UIGEA.

Word is that PokerStars is testing the e-checks with long-time customers before expanding the offering.  Players who have the option to use e-checks need to make a deposit using the method before being allowed to withdraw.  If a deposit was made with e-checks prior to January 17, a new one is not necessary.

e-checks are a great way to move money back and forth between poker rooms and bank accounts without a middle man, or e-wallet.  They work just like regular checks, but without the need for the piece of paper.  Players simply need to have their checking account information including account and routing numbers.  Deposits to PokerStars are credited instantly, even before the check clears.
