Swedish-owned PokerNetwork announced this week that it has changed its name to Ongame Network in an effort to reflect its expanded games offering. Best known for its flagship online poker room, PokerRoom.com, Ongame touts itself as the “world’s third-largest online poker presence” (which, according to pokerpulse.com’s statistics, is true).
In addition to poker, Ongame will offer typical single-player and multi-player casino fare, such as Roulette, Craps, Blackjack, Let it Ride, Slots, and Video Poker. Just as the players on its poker network share tables to create a wider game selection, players in playing casino games on the Ongame Network will be linked together to add to progressive jackpots. “Multi-player casino games and Blackjack tournaments, along with high quality graphics, will differentiate Ongame Network from the broad offering that currently exists in this part of the industry”, said David Flynn, Director of Ongame Network.
The name change follows on the heels of PartyGaming’s integration of Blackjack into its poker software (and announcement of upcoming casino offerings), a sign that online poker rooms have realized that diversification is necessary for continued growth.
