The Poker Players Alliance (PPA) has made its first permanent hire in its Washington, D.C. office. John Pappas, formerly associate vice president of Dittus Communications, which provided consulting services for the PPA, has been named vice president of government relations. Prior to his stint at Dittus, Pappas was communications director for Rep. John B. Shadegg (R-Ariz.). In his new role, Pappas will direct the lobbying and grass roots efforts of the PPA as the group works to protect the rights of poker players in the U.S. The most pressing goal is to get online poker legalized and regulated. "It is obviously an issue that I have known and followed the politics and policy of for nearly two years now," he said. “I want to be part of that.”
