Poker has officially become a pastime with mass-market appeal. Hot on the heels of the broadcast of the World Series of Poker Main Event, Razor Entertainment and Poker Royalty have teamed up to produce the first-ever set of poker trading cards.
Poker Royalty, an agency that represents many poker professionals, obviously hopes this card set will increase the exposure of its clients, and there is a good chance it will. The Razor set will be sold at retail giants Amazon.com, Target, Wal-Mart, Blockbuster, and K-mart. Many individual cards, boxes, and sets are already up for bidding on eBay. Some sealed boxes, containing 24 packs of six cards are going for upwards of $40 on the online auction site, while some individual autographed cards are seeing bids of over $14.
The complete sets include 37 “base cards” of the featured poker stars, 5 “legends” cards, 18 “super showdowns” cards which depict two players, and 14 WSOP bracelet winners cards. There are also special variation of the base cards which are personally signed by the players, as well 4 “auto memorabilia” cards.
