Poker After Dark Season 4 Sneak Peek

NBC has offered the public a bit of a “sneak peek” of what’s in store for Poker After Dark’s fourth season.  The episodes concluded filming on April 18 and then will be aired beginning in July.

One thing the folks at Poker After Dark seem to be proud of is the variety of players they have had on the show.  Seventy-two different players have made appearances in the first two seasons and twenty-one more will make their debuts in season four.

Variety is also the key word when it comes to game variety.  Every show has featured a six-player freezeout tournament, but this will change.  Added to the mix will be cash games and a heads-up tournament.

The cash games, in what looks like an attempt to compete with the Game Show Network’s High Stakes Poker, will be $200/$400 no-limit hold’em.  This type of game will be shown during two weeks, and will feature some familiar High Stakes Poker names.  One week, Howard Lederer, Dee Tiller, Gabe Kaplan, Patrik Antonius, Doyle Brunson, and Eli Elezra will square off, while Guy Laliberte, Phil Hellmuth, Tom Dwan, Allen Cunningham, Mike Baxter and David Peat will try to take each other’s money in the other.

The heads-up battle should be interesting.  It will be a double-elimination mini-tournament featuring the four Heads-Up Championship winners: Phil Hellmuth, Ted Forrest, Paul Wasicka, and Chris Ferguson.  They will each buy-in for $50,000 and the winner takes all.

The “Dream Match” will be back, where an online qualifier will get to play against his five favorite players.  This season’s qualifier is Paul Featherstone, who will try to best a chatty table of Mike Matusow, Jennifer Harman, Phil Hellmuth, Gavin Smith, and Mike Sexton.
