Playtech Shows Strong Q4 Numbers

Online gaming software provider, Playtech, announced Monday that it expects a strong 2008, particularly after it is coming off a successful fourth quarter of 2007.

While the loss of American customers during the year hurt Playtech and many other online gambling firms, the company’s results when excluding U.S. figures were excellent.  Revenues from all other countries rose 101 percent to $32.7 million.

Casino software revenue was up $22.9 million, while poker software revenue climbed to $9.4 million.

Playtech operates the iPoker network, which is home to such popular poker rooms as Titan Poker, CD Poker, and BetFred Poker.  Despite the loss of U.S. customers, the iPoker network has actually risen to become the fourth most popular site for cash game players, according to PokerScout.com.  This growth has come largely from Playtech’s refocusing on Asia and Europe, along with its absorption of several poker rooms and networks in the post-UIGEA shuffle.
