Shannon Shorr is pushing hard for the Player of the Year. This year's race is so tight, that no one in the top of the leader board should be counted out. A win in the $15,000 event could conceivably give any of the players with 4,100 points or more the 2006 Player of the Year award.
Shorr earned another 450 points to his total yesterday by finishing fourth in the $5,000 event at the Bellagio World Poker Classic and earned another $71,520 for his bankroll.
Shorr still sits in fourth place on the POY leader board, but is only a little over 1 thousand points away from taking the lead from Michael Mizrachi. Mizrachi has held onto the top spot for most of the year after he had a spectacular two weeks in February.
It all depends on how Mizrachi fares in the championship event though. The three players sitting right under him have a chance to take the lead with only a few weeks left in the tournament year.
