The Main Event of the 2008 World Series of Poker starts this week, but even if you don’t have the $10,000 to plunk down for a seat, you can still do a little gambling on the tournament. As always, Bodog has all sorts of prop bets for the Main Event, giving poker fans (or simply those who like action) a chance to win from the comfort of home. There are no odds on specific players winning the Main Event bracelet, as any given player is an extreme longshot, but there are plenty of other ways to bet on players. Some of the favorites in different categories include: - Which “celebrity” will win the most money in the Main Event – James Woods, Jennifer Tilly, Shannon Elizabeth, and Yevgeny Kafelnikov are all 5/1.
- Which pairing will win the most money – Kathy Liebert/Patrik Antonius at 4/1.
- Which former champ will last the longest – Phil Hellmuth, Juan Carlos Mortensen, and Chris Ferguson are all at 9/2.
- Which female player will last the longest – Jennifer Harman and Kathy Liebert are the favorites at 5/1.
And then there are some of the more interesting money lines: - Will a female make the final table of the Main Event? Yes +400, No -800
- Will a former bracelet winner make the final table? Yes -300, No +190
- Which poker instructor team will win the most money? Cardrunners +130, PokerXFactor -185
- Will the winner of the Main Event be American Born? Yes -230, No +155
There are more possible bets than these available at Bodog, so if you have the itch, it should be easy to scratch.
