Party Poker Unveils Major New Software Release

Sure, it’s chock full of bugs and disappearing tables, but Party Poker continued to be the focus of the internet poker world today by releasing a new version of its client software. Never mind that many players, as of 5:00pm EST, still can’t login to their accounts, see one-table tournaments, or get a button to work without clicking on it multiple times. It’s a major upgrade!

The changes are as follows:

Tournaments
• More starting chips (Sit-and-Go’s – 2,000; Multi-Table – 3,000; “Events” – 5,000)
• New blind structure
• Sit-and-Go levels based on time, not hands played
• Entry fees now included in buy-in
• Flatter payout structure

Lobby
• Available cash and Party points displayed in the lobby
• Games listed by blinds instead of max buy-in
• Cash games split into No-Limit, Pot-Limit, or Limit
• Tournaments dividing into groups for easier navigation
• Tables are named instead of numbered
• Hands per hour now displayed
• Filters available to narrow down table choices
• News ticker more prominent

Table Resizing
• Can shrink windows for multi-tabling
• Windows can be automatically tiled and cascaded, if desired

More Choice
• New limits added for cash games
• New buy-ins added for Sit-and-Go’s

Party Account
• Both Party Poker and Party Casino accounts accessed from some place
• Account page is streamlined, easier to navigate

As mentioned above, not all the wrinkles have been smoothed out of the software yet, but hopefully they will be soon. The upgrades promise to make Party Poker more user-friendly, so assuming everything will get fixed, it should be a step forward for the biggest poker room on the internet.
