Paradise Poker Adds Blackjack

Six year-old Paradise Poker, part of the UK’s Sportingbet plc, and one of the internet’s largest poker rooms, has added blackjack to its already robust stable of games. Traditionally, online poker rooms that offer casino games (blackjack, craps, video poker, slots, etc.) kept those casino games on a separate site, usually requiring a separate customer registration, as well. The same holds true for online casinos that opened poker rooms. Paradise Poker’s blackjack, conversely, is a part of the main site, so players can play blackjack on one table and poker on another, all with the same bankroll and login information.

This is an interesting strategy for Paradise Poker. On the one hand, the addition of blackjack may bring in more casual “casino” players, players who might not necessarily be as well versed in poker. This could, in turn, attract more serious players to Paradise, as there will be more beginners for them to beat. On the other hand, the ability to get poker players to play a few blackjack hands while they are playing poker or, perhaps, waiting for a table to open up, could be quite profitable. Blackjack, after all, is a game where the house has an advantage and will always win in the long run. Whether it is poker players playing blackjack or blackjack players trying poker, the increase in customers should be a boon to Paradise Poker.
