Finally. After years of having ugly, clunky software that ranked at the bottom of the industry, Pacific Poker has finally updated its poker client. It is still recognizable as Pacific Poker, but it has grown up. Upon logging in, players will find that the lobby has been streamlined for the better. It is fully customizable, but not just with the usual table filters that most rooms have nowadays. Columns for table details can be added and removed as necessary, so that players can see whatever information they would like. Unfortunately, the lobby cannot be enlarged, so if one adds more than the default number of columns, the extra details can only be seen by scrolling right. The lobby also displays tournaments for which the player is registered, so there is no forgetting to get to the computer when the game is about to start. The time displayed in the lobby can also be customized so that players don’t have to remember how many hours different their local time is compared to the game server’s. At the tables themselves, the cards still look the same (while they are not the most attractive around, they are fine), but Pacific as finally added the four color deck option. The tables in general are more attractive, as well. They are brighter, less Spartan, and now players can choose an avatar to represent themselves at the table. Avatars can, of course, be turned off if they get distracting. And thankfully, Pacific now gives the option to create a custom password, rather than sticking customers with the random password that was never able to be changed. Pacific Poker is also running several promotions to celebrate the new software launch, giving away prizes including a custom avatar, a WSOP seat, and a trip around the world.
