Press Release: Charges Laid in Ontario Illegal Gambling Investigation

MISSISSAUGA, ON, Aug. 28 - Members of the Organized Crime Section - Illegal Gambling Unit, with the assistance of the Peel Regional Police Service and the Asset Forfeiture Unit, executed Criminal Code search warrants at four Mississauga businesses. The warrants were executed through the course of the investigation between July 21 and August 27, 2007. As a result, a number of individuals have been charged with illegal gambling offences contrary to the Criminal Code. 

An investigation was commenced by Organized Crime Section – Illegal Gambling Greater Toronto Region team. The investigation confirmed the existence of four gaming houses where members of the public would attend to play Texas Hold'em and other games of poker. Persons were seeking to gain monetarily from the gambling activity. 

The warrants were executed at the following locations: 

    -   Topflight Poker Club, 125 Topflight Drive, Mississauga

    -   Pockets - 6160 Netherhart, Unit No. 10, Mississauga

    -   No Limit Club - 5500 Tomken Road, Unit No. 8, Mississauga  

    -   Hollywood - 2408 Haines Road Unit No. 5, Mississauga

The Organized Crime Section, Illegal Gambling is a specialized police unit headed by the Ontario Provincial Police in partnership with police services including Toronto, London, Peel, York, Windsor, and Ottawa. The Unit is responsible for the investigation of province-wide illegal gambling investigations pertaining to Part VII of the Criminal Code, with an emphasis on Organized Crime.
