There are some aspects of America that would be good to have spread around the world. Our government’s anti-online gambling attitude is not one of them. It is starting to happen, though. Ontario has recently introduced legislation that would prohibit the advertising of online gambling sites.
While provinces have the right to operate casinos, lotteries, and horse racing, online gambling is illegal under the Criminal Code. And while the Code is the responsibility of the federal government, Ontario’s Minister of Government Services, Gerry Phillips, says that online gambling should at least not be advertised. As such, he is looking to completely ban any advertising for “illegal” online gambling sites.
Enjoy your transformation into the U.S., Canada!
