Little known online poker room, KickOffPoker.com, has introduced what it boasts as the “world’s most expensive multi-table tournament.” Presumably referring to the internet poker world, as many live events each year top this buy-in, the monthly €5,000 tournament does top the field. Technically, there is one exception. PokerStars.com holds a weekly $10,000 buy-in tournament, which is more expensive than KickOffPoker’s (currently equal to over $6,800), but it is a heads-up tournament limited to sixteen players. KickOff’s qualifies as the most costly true multi-table tournament. The event will be held on the first Sunday of each month with the exception of the inaugural tournament, which will be held on September 9. Players can satellite into the big tourney, starting with €60 satellites held every day except Thursdays and the Sundays on which the €5,000 takes place. On Thursdays, a €550 super-satellite is run, in which one in ten entrants wins a seat to the main event. One in ten entrants from the €60 satellites qualify for the €550 super-satellite. KickOffPoker.com is part of the 24h Poker network. Danish footballer Stig Tofting is the face of the site.
