Nikolay Evdakov Breaks WSOP Cashes Record

The 2008 World Series of Poker Player of the Year award may have gone to Erick Lindgren, but Nikolay Evdakov did something that nobody had even done in the history of the WSOP: he cashed in ten tournaments.

Despite being the first person ever to hit double digits in cashes, and despite his $228,527 in total winnings, Evdakov only managed to rank 66th in the WSOP Player of the Year standings.  The reason for this is that he did not make any final tables, which is where the points for the standings really start to jump.  He did make the final two tables in three events.

Evdakov’s record-setting run is as follows:

World Championship Pot-Limit Hold'em (Event 1) -- $10,000 buy-in (12th - $49,632)

No-Limit Hold'em (Event 2) -- $1,500 buy-in (139th - $4,559)

No-Limit Hold'em w/ReBuys (Event 5) -- $1,000 buy-in (48th - $9,839)

World Championship Mixed Event (Event 8) -- $10,000 buy-in (24th - $16,243)

No-Limit 2-7 Draw Lowball w/ReBuys (Event 18) -- $5,000 buy-in (13th - $26,025)

Pot-Limit Omaha W/Rebuys (Event 28) -- $5,000 buy-in (14th - $61,718)

Pot-Limit Omaha W/ReBuys (Event 34) -- $1,500 buy-in (30th - $16,849)

No-Limit Hold'em / Six Handed (Event 46) -- $5,000 buy-in (38th - $14,377)

No-Limit Hold'em (Event 48) -- $2,000 buy-in (158th - $4,216)

World Championship Pot Limit Omaha (Event 50) -- $10,000 buy-in (28th - $25,069)

The previous record for cashes in a single WSOP was eight, held by Humberto Brenes (2006), Phil Hellmuth (2006), Michael Binger (2007), and Chad Brown (2007).
