Four years ago, the Mohegan Sun casino did away with its poker room. Next summer, it will be bringing it back. Until then, it will have a “mini” poker room of sorts, featuring automatic tables. Mohegan Sun has teamed up with PokerTek, installing twelve of its fully automated, ten-seat PokerPro tables on the casino floor. It is the first east coast casino to do so. While many poker purists have been slow to accept the tables, which don’t require dealers, chips, cards, or money, many players enjoy the speed of the game, as they can get more hands in per hour. The casino may keep the PokerPro tables once the live poker room opens next year. "If it's still successful after the live poker opens [the tables will stay]. Hey, our customers decide what works here, not us,” said Mitch Etess, president of Mohegan Sun.
