Mirage Poker Showdown Down to Six

Five of the top six players going into Day 4 of the Mirage Poker Showdown remained when play ended for the night, as the final television table has been set.  Poker player extraordinaire, Phil Ivey, leads the table with $1.395 million in chips, but nobody is out of it yet.  Cory Carroll and Darrell Dicken, who had been the chip leader for the previous two days, are not far behind with just over $1.2 million each.  Jonathan Little, who made a tremendous comeback on Day 2, has just under $1 million, Richard Kirsch had $810,000, and Amnon Filippi owns the short stack, with $571,000.

Dicken had his first rocky day, having gone into Tuesday with a substantial lead.  He gave up a large chunk of his stack after a couple close hands, falling to $830,000, as is obvious from the chip counts, he was able to regroup and make a solid recovery.

Ivey used a nice mix of luck and skill to rise to the number one position.  About four and a half hours into play, he ended up all-in pre-flop against Filippi, who had him covered with K-K.  Fortunately for Ivey, he had A-A and was able to double-up.  With a healthy stack, he was then able to get aggressive and build up his chips.  He eliminated Jon Friedberg in 8th place, followed shortly by a $250,000 win over Little to allow him to reach his place atop the pack.

The tournament will resume at 5:00pm PST.  The winner will take home $1,066,295.
