The Microgaming poker network has retooled its lobby, making it more attractive and more useful to players of varying experience. There are now three different lobby views. The first is a very basic, “paint by numbers” view, where you can simply click on a big, graphical icon to play in cash games, sit-and-go’s, or multi-table tournaments. Just click on one of them, select the type of game and stakes, and you’ll be whisked away to the proper table. The second is the traditional lobby view, with the games tree on the left and the available tables in the main window. The third is essentially a mix of the previous two. Instead of icons, the different types of tables (cash, sit-and-go, etc.) are selected with tabs at the top of the window. From there, you click on radio buttons to narrow your selection to game type (hold’em, Omaha, etc.) and other options. A slider at the top chooses your stakes, while the whole time the available tables are displayed in the primary frame. The menus have been cleaned up, as well. Now placed prominently at the bottom of the lobby with bright, colorful buttons, they have become much easier to navigate. One new feature that people will notice in the menu is the addition of “Buddies.” Now players can keep a list of their friends or other people they would like to track. To avoid the potential for stalking, however, buddies are not automatically added once they are typed into the list. Instead, an invite is sent to the potential buddy, who must accept it. Other new features of the software include the ability to rabbit hunt if you fold on the flop or river (only the turn card is shown if you fold on the flop), as well as the ability to show you cards to your opponent if you are the last to fold.
