Michigan Gives PokerTek the Green Light

PokerTek announced today that the Michigan Gaming Control Board has given it regulatory approval to distribute its PokerPro system in the state.

PokerPro is a fully-automated poker table currently in use in several casinos in Florida and Oklahoma. The company has also recently signed deals with Carnival Cruise Lines and Hollywood Park casino. With the PokerPro table, there are no dealers and no chips. Each player has a personal touch-screen which displays his cards, chip stack, and other pertinent information. The middle of the table contains a larger screen which shows the community cards, bets, and the pot. These tables combine the ease of playing online with the social environment of a live game.

Poker Tek’s CEO, Lou White, was thrilled:

“This approval allows us to finalize contract negotiations with several commercial casinos in the State of Michigan. We are very excited about this approval, and are looking forward to receiving additional approvals in other jurisdictions in the coming months.”
