Jennifer Harman Charity Tournament Tonight

Tonight, Jennifer Harman will serve as host of her second live charity poker tournament for the Nevada Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA).  Dozens of Harman’s friends from around the poker world are slated to attend the tournament at the Venetian.  One does not need to be a famous poker pro to play, though.  The buy-in (donation) is $300 + $30, with optional $200 re-buys and one optional $200 add-on.  The winner will receive a $10,000 at the 2008 World Series of Poker Main Event.

Harman hosted a similar tourney last year, which raised $130,000 for the Nevada SPCA.  She recently attended a ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the opening of two new wings of the no-kill animal shelter, which were built with the tournament money.  Doug Duke, Executive Director of the Nevada SPCA, said that the additions will serve as shelter for 1,000 animals.

In addition to the money from the tournament, additional funds will be raised through live and silent auctions.
