Golden Palace Poker Transfers U.S. Accounts to New Room

United States customers of Golden Palace Poker received e-mails late last night informing them that their poker accounts have been transferred to a new poker operator, Century Poker. The move was made because starting at midnight last night, U.S. players are no longer welcome on Golden Palace’s home network.

This past fall, that network, Tribeca Tables, was purchased by online gaming software provider, Playtech. All Tribeca poker rooms are currently in the process of migrating to Playtech’s poker network, iPoker. While Tribeca did allow U.S. players, it was known that because Playtech did not, Tribeca would have to shut out Americans at some point, as well. It was assumed that there would be plenty of advance warning before this happened, but two weeks ago, Tribeca announced that once March began, U.S. players were out.

Enter Century Poker, a new member of the young Digital Gaming Network (DGN). All U.S. player accounts have been transferred to Century, including user names, passwords, and Action Points (although Action Points may take a few days). DGN is the home of Daniel Negreanu’s poker room, Full Contact Poker, as well as BetonUSA.com, which just moved to the network within the last couple weeks. U.S. residents are permitted to play for real money on DGN.

The biggest problem with this move is that DGN has extremely light player traffic, as it is trying to build its poker room partner base. DGN has said that it will be adding rooms over the next few weeks, so this is a good start, as Golden Palace is a fairly major player. The hope is that Golden Palace customers will stay with Century and help populate DGN’s tables.

The low traffic does have a bright side, though. Century Poker is hosting “Get to Know Us” freerolls this week each night at 7:00pm EST. The prize pools are $1,000 tonight and $5,000 on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Expect a nice ratio of players to prize money.

It is not clear at this time if Century Poker was actually created by Golden Palace as their way to serve U.S. customers, or if it just a new operator that worked out a deal with Golden Palace. And inquiry has been placed with Century Poker and once we hear back, we will update this story with the details.
