Long-time Milwaukee Brewer and current Philadelphia Phillie, Geoff Jenkins, had to have been proud of the first Geoff Jenkins Celebrity Poker Tournament at the Jackrabbit Lounge in Scottsdale, Arizona. He and 42 fellow athletes raised around $60,000 the Boys and Girls Clubs. "As athletes we have a chance to do some good," Jenkins said. "Why not do it with something everyone enjoys doing anyway? It was easy rounding up guys to participate in this." Among the participants were fellow baseball players Paul Konerko, Ryan Garko, Aaron Boone, Brian Roberts, Russell Martin, Mike Hampton, and Randy Flores. None of Jenkins’ new Philadelphia teammates were able to attend, but he did have a reunion of sorts with his old Milwaukee buddies, J.J. Hardy, Bill Hall, and Chris Capuano. Hall played double-duty, serving as poker coach to Denver Broncos wide receiver, Javon Walker, who knew nothing about the game. Walker actually flew in from England to play in the event. Jenkins is a big poker fan, rating himself a seven on a ten point scale in terms of his proficiency. He says he has a long way to go to be the next Phil Hellmuth, but he loves to play. He has another charity tourney to go to, soon, as he’ll be playing in Royce Clayton's Poker Celebrity Bowl this weekend.
