Have a favorite poker player? Now, instead of just rooting for him to do well, you can root for him to win something for you. Prizes are up for grabs in every event of the 2008 World Series of Poker in Full Tilt Poker’s Fantasy Poker League. For anyone who has played fantasy sports, the concept will be familiar. Pick a team of poker players who you think will do well at the WSOP and the better they do, the more points you score. While there are no starters or bench players, you do still have to discriminate amongst your team members to try to get your strongest players out on the felt each and every event. Rather than simply choosing fifteen team members from amongst the more than 300 on Full Tilt’s list (not all are Full Tilt pros), you must choose three groups of five players each. The five in the “A” group will earn you triple their winnings in each event, the five in the “B” group will earn double, and the five in the “C” group will get you fantasy dollars equal to their prize winnings. So, you have to try to figure out which players on your team will make it the farthest. The points are totaled for each event of the WSOP, so there are chances to win virtually every day. Of course, like any good fantasy league, an overall winner will also be crowned. Teams can be adjusted for every event. Each fantasy event winner will receive a customized Full Tilt jersey, while 2nd through 50th will win a Full Tilt cap. The top 2,000 in each event will win an entry into a $2,000 freeroll, except for the Main Event, which will be a $10,000 freeroll, and the $50,000 HORSE event, which will be a $5,000 freeroll. In addition to prize money, the top 10 finishers in each freeroll will get to participate in another free tournament to try to win seat to the Main Event of the 2009 WSOP. The overall winner will receive a Full Tilt Poker deluxe home game package and a jersey. The 2nd through 5th place finishers will also receive a jersey. The top 100 overall finishers will get spots in the 2009 WSOP freeroll.
