Full Tilt to Hold Blockbuster Heads-Up Tournament

With the NBC National Heads-Up Poker Championship currently making its television run, poker fan interest in one-on-one tournaments is high.  Enter Full Tilt Poker.

On Saturday, May 24, Full Tilt will hold the largest buy-in heads-up tournament in the history of poker – live or online.  The $25K Heads-Up Championship – that’s right, $25,000 buy-in – will feature many of Full Tilt’s big name pros, as well as some of the top players from around the internet.

Thirty-five players are already registered for the sixty-four player tournament.  Four seats have been reserved for satellite winners.  Chris Ferguson, Huck Seed, Andy Bloch, Erik Seidel, Gus Hansen, John Juanda, Phil Ivey, and Howard Lederer are just a few of the participants.

While the Championship has a maximum capacity of sixty-four players, it will be trimmed down if a “perfect” number of players do not register.  That is, if the number of players does not allow an even bracket to be set, players will be unregistered by Full Tilt, with the latest registrant being culled first.  So, if fifty players sign up, eighteen will be kicked out so that the field can be set at thirty-two, a number which will allow for a head-to-head tournament.

A word of warning: do not sign up if you are not sure that you can play.  Nobody is allowed to unregister themselves from the event.  So, once you plunk down that $25,000, you can’t get it back, unless, of course, you make the money.

Two heads-up qualifier tournaments will be held on May 22 and 23, which cost $535 to enter.
