Full Tilt Poker’s first FTOPS V event with at least a million dollar guaranteed prize pool outdid itself. With 4.372 players paying the $300 buy-in, the prize pool climbed to over $1.3 million. First prize paid more than some World Series of Poker events, a very nice $231,615. “313OG,” the eventual winner, made his big move early on at the final table in back-to-back hands. After knocking out “PhilHPoker” in 8th place to garner around 600,000 chips, he locked up a straight on the turn versus “BigBukkinChickn” on the very next hand. “BigBukkinChickn” made a set of Jacks which he couldn’t lay down, doubling “313OG” up to 5.5 million. “313OG” proceeded to knock out “diiana” in 5th place and then “serefecheers” in 3rd place to take a 2-to-1 chip lead into heads-up play with “akaginsf.” The two competitors played very cautiously for a while, not willing to take stabs at even large pots that were raised pre-flop if they missed the flop. After taking a 3 million chip, checked-down pot (K-J out-flopped A-K), “313OG” turned up the heat, eventually forcing “akaginsf” into shove or fold mode. “akaginsf” did find a great hand, Q-Q, with which to push pre-flop, but unfortunately for him, he ran into pocket Aces and had to settle for 2nd place and $140,000.
