The final table of the World Poker Tour (WPT) Borgata Poker Open gets underway this evening at 5:00pm, bringing to a climax the $10,000 buy-in event that saw over 500 entrants compete, the largest collection of players at a poker tournament ever in Atlantic City.
Wednesday began with 62 players, only 45 of whom would make the money, and did not finish until almost 5:00am Thursday, as J.C. Tran got knocked out in seventh place when his pocket queens fell to pocket aces.
The final six players include some very successful, seasoned rounders.
Starting play as the chip leader with $3,200,000 in chips, is David Singer, who cashed three times at this year’s World Series of Poker (WSOP) and made the final table of the WSOP Main Even in 2003.
The second stack, about a million chips behind, is young gun John D’Agostino, while Robert “Action Bob” Hwang, the winner of the $1,500 buy-in event, is in third with $1,795,000 in chips.
Al Ardebili, who was the one who knocked out J.C. Tran early this morning, is in fourth place with $1,425,000 in chips.
Kathy Liebert, second on the women’s all-time money list, is in fifth with just $1,045,000, and Richard Festejo is the short-stack with $540,000.
Each player is now guaranteed almost a quarter of a million dollars, with the winner receiving a whopping $1,498,650.
