Fallout From Vaughn/Mizzi Full Tilt Scandal Continues

The major players in the latest online poker cheating scandal have admitted to their crimes, the poker rooms have meted out their punishments, and poker fans have had their say.  But the other shoe had yet to drop, until this week.

Bluff Media, which employed Chris Vaughn, the man who sold his “won” the Full Tilt $1 million guaranteed tournament after selling his account to online star Sorel Mizzi, has released him from his position as Managing Editor of Bluff Magazine.  As posted on Bluff Magazine’s website:

Bluff Media, publisher of Bluff Magazine, has made the decision to terminate Chris Vaughn as Managing Editor. In light of Chris’ involvement, recently admitted facts and the feedback obtained from industry professionals, it became apparent that the credibility required to perform the job functions of Managing Editor of Bluff Magazine at our company’s level of standards have become severely diminished. While we regret having to make this decision, we believe that it is the best alternative for all parties involved, including Chris, Bluff Media and the poker playing community at large. We wish Chris the best of luck.”

This decision comes just days after Bluff management said that what Vaughn did outside of work was his business and would not affect his employment with Bluff Media.  It is fairly apparent, however, that Bluff felt the pressure of the poker public and realized that it had to fire Vaughn.  It was the correct decision.  Someone who works in the poker industry loses all credibility when he cheats at the game.  Chances are, Vaughn will land on his feet somewhere, but his days at Bluff had to come to an end.
