The Degree Poker Championship is getting ready to deal the cards for its third installment, which will take place June 25-29 at Casino Rama in Orillia, Ontario. In the competition, 72 players will square off in a series of Texas hold’em tournaments with a $100,000 grand prize. Those contestants will first play in one of two preliminary rounds in which half the field will advance to the televised playoff round. The playoff round consists of six single-table, six-handed tournaments, with the winner of each advancing to the championship round. In addition to the $100,000, the winner will also have a shot to win an additional $1 million plus a seat in the Main Event of the 2007 World Series of Poker. Most of the participants were selected via a random online sweepstakes. The remainder of the field will be comprised of the previous two winners, the nine other previous finalists, five Casino Rama winners, and two contest winners via a Degree promotion. The Degree Poker Championship is slated to air later this year in Canada on TSN, TSN HD, and TSN Broadband.
