Rep. John Conyers (D-MI), Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, has been added as a co-sponsor of Rep. Robert Wexler’s (D-FL) H.R. 2046, the Skill Game Protection Act. H.R. 2046 aims to legalize and regulate online games, such as poker, whose primary requirement for success is skill. Other games, such as mahjong and bridge are also included as skill games. Additionally, the House Judiciary Committee will be holding a hearing on November 14 to discuss online gambling. The hearing, entitled “Hearing on Establishing Consistent Enforcement Policies in the Context of Online Wagers,” will be held in the Rayburn House Office Building at 10:00am. Rep. Conyers has asked Annie Duke to testify at the hearing. Other experts will speak to the WTO issue, problem gambling, age verification, and the current proposed UIGEA regulations.
