Bluff Magazine has crowned Chad Brown its 2006 Player of the Year, based on its proprietary ranking system. The rankings track finishes in tournaments with at least a $5,000 buy-in and 100 entrants. Brown’s finish atop the standings rewards his consistent success throughout the year, although he did not win a major tournament.
Brown cashed in nine qualifying tournaments in 2006, including three WPT final tables and one WSOP Circuit final table.
The former Hollywood actor compared the award to receiving acting’s highest honor.
“To win this is an enormous accomplishment to be very proud of. To put this in context, if I were acting it would be like I won an Oscar at the Academy Awards,” he told Bluff. “People identify actors for the rest of their lives as: ‘That’s an Oscar winner.’”
Rounding out the top five in the Bluff standings were Cliff Josephy, John Juanda, Erik Cajelais, and Victor Ramdin.
