Card Player Launches New Poker Room

Card Player magazine made a bold step this weekend, launching a beta version of its own online poker room, SpadeClub.  Unlike most, if not all, online poker rooms, this one will not charge a rake.  Instead, it will be a subscription-based service with nothing but freeroll tournaments.

During the two-month beta period, no subscription fees will be required.  Players can signup for free and participate in daily freerolls.  Every weekday, SpadeClub will hold a $75 freeroll.  On Saturday, the prize pool is $500, and on Sunday it is $1,000.

When the site is up and running for real, the monthly fee will cost $19.99.  Each month, $100,000 in prize money will be up for grabs with no cash buy-ins required.
